Through fragmented memories and voices of loved ones, Ursula Hegi envelops us in the lives of Annie and her baby sister Opal, whom she’s raising after their parents’ fatal accident.  Annie is an artist, mother and wife struggling to find a balance not only with her new roles but also with the special bond she and her husband have with their childhood friend, Jake.  They share an intimacy that is entangled with feelings past and present and explore the mysterious boundaries of love, desire, jealousy, and sorrow.  Hegi draws us in with moments of startling beauty and moves us slowly through the process of grief, acceptance and change.
