Jane recommends: So Much for That, by Lionel Shriver

This my third Lionel Shriver book…a youngish British born author whom I have become a big fan of!
She is quite adept in all her books in tackling big issues that plague everyday people.

In her latest novel, Shriver takes on the health care crisis in The United States, with two middle class families’ stories of serious illnesses that wreak havoc on their lives and inter family relationships. As insurance companies push these characters to the breaking point, we feel the real pain and anger for a system that isn’t working for patient and extended family members.
This book, obviously written well before our health care vote has become front page news, is eerily timely to all of us.

(Lionel Shriver’s latest books are: The Post-Birthday World and We Need to Talk about Kevin).
