Andi recommends: Nothing, by Janne Teller (YA)

Open a copy of Nothing by Janne Teller and until you finish reading, nothing else will matter, not meals, sleep or work. Nothing is the 21st century answer to Lord of the Flies.
In a small town in Denmark, a group of teens decide to show that life really does have meaning by gathering their most precious possessions in a pile. Then someone makes a friend give up what matters most to them, and soon what is added to the pile grows dark and gruesome. The outcome is expected, but horrifying. Teller’s talent lies in showing that these teens and the town’s reaction could be anywhere, could be us.
It is a great book—and what could matter more than that?
For ages 15 and up.
